Wellhauser's voice is undeniably strong in this conclusion to The Burdened Air. This gripping novel picks up right where we left off from book one and the action doesn't quit. The author's world building will leave readers awestruck and they will feel themselves drawn into the story almost instantaneously. Even though it is best to read the first book to fully grip this bizarre tale, The Dog Particle will be applauded by many as a stand alone novel as well. Sandu has grown as a character and his journey will leave one breathless as he continues his quest to search for answers. Incredibly exciting, satisfying and completely out of this world. This is my favorite book of his next to the Seurat Constant. The Two books of the Burdened Air are definitely the best in terms of literary quality than his other books, but the dense writing style is not for everybody. The read is not easy, but the ride is spectacular. The actual writing and tone itself overpowers the characters in a way that draws you into the surrealistic world that David Wellhauser has created.
